NEWSPAPER IS YOUR FRIEND WHEN CLEANING INK OFF A SCREEN!
Cleaning is a messy job – make it as painless as possible!
- Remove as much ink off the screen with a Stainless Steel or plastic spatula. The more ink you remove at this stage the quicker/less cleaning time you will need to spend.
- Place layers of newspaper under the screen. Now using a small sponge (for water-based inks) or a small cloth (for solvent-based inks) – wash / rub the screen from inside the frame: left to right / top to bottom, for a long time. The diluted ink solution will soak into the layers of newspaper.
- Remove the top layer of the newspaper and continue the cleaning-up process in Step 2.
- Now lift the screen and using a clean new sponge or cloth, dab the underside of the screen. Do not rub the underside as this side is your definition side.
- Repeat the clean-up process until the screen mesh and frame is 100% clean and free of ink.
