5 STEPS FOR A PERFECTLY RECLAIMED SCREEN

The rule is – let the chemicals work for you, not you work for the chemicals!

  1. Remove as much printing ink as possible using a plastic or Stainless Steel spatula. Remove any tape.
  2. Apply a solution of De-coat Powder to both sides of the screen mesh with a small sponge. Check the packet for the mixing instructions. Leave for 3 – 5 minutes to allow the chemical to do the work. Do not allow the chemical solution to dry on the screen. Now blast the photo emulsion off with a High Pressure Spray Gun from both sides. Photo emulsion may be hiding behind the mesh strand.
  3. Now using a combination of K4 Ghost Image Remover and Cleaner Paste, apply chemicals to to both sides of the screen mesh. A small cloth is recommended. Remember to wear quality Chemical Gloves as the chemicals are strong and caustic. Leave for 5 – 10 minutes to allow time for the chemical to do the work. Blast with a High Pressure Spray Gun from both sides. At this stage of the cleaning process there should be no evidence of the previous print. Repeat the K4 + Cleaner Paste combination, if necessary.
  4. The last step is to neutralise the cleaning chemicals using a Degreaser Solution. Use a small cloth. Remember to degrease both sides of the screen mesh and all sides of the screen frame (as the very chemicals that break down the photo emulsion is hiding on the frame!). Rinse off with a hose pipe + spray.
  5. Store in a dust free environment until required for coating for the next job.
